ROYAL MELBOURNE YACHT SQUADRON
MUIR Architecture in collaboration with BREATHE Architecture and OPENWORK are currently involved in the masterplan, refurbishment and extension of the Royal Melbourne Yacht Squadron building in St Kilda, Melbourne.
The heritage listed building has played a significant role along the St Kilda foreshore for over 140 years and still functions today as one of Victoria’s oldest yacht clubs.
The project presents itself as a wonderful opportunity to negotiate heritage and the requirement to bring the building to contemporary standards as well as enhancing the member’s experience.
The strategic location of the yacht club, in close proximity to the St Kilda Pier, will also provide the opportunity to increase public engagement and deliver a new exciting public space for the St Kilda foreshore.
