BLOOM

RMIT Design Hub invited three Melbourne design practices to work in-situ with Alisa Andrasek and Jose Sanchez’s project BLOOM. Conceived as a collective building experience and using a game-like logic, BLOOM encourages collaborative play. The three invited studios - SIBLING, MAKE Architecture and MUIR Architecture – chose to work together to design and build a new landscape with the BLOOM components.

Alisa Andrasek and Jose Sanchez’s BLOOM components form the starting point for an insitu landscape intervention. A component which when combined with many becomes structurally sound and integral to the making of a self-evolving form. MUIR Architecture, Sibling and MAKE have set out to challenge the free form condition which naturally results from ‘playing’ with the components. In an attempt to tame the process the intent is to generate a singular formal gesture that responds to place and is to be inhabited.
